Who knew but if you are a student studying abroad in Europe for the semester and have the means to prove it, Versailles is 100% free (or libre)! Also a good bit of knowledge in case you are ever in France and not a student, the Chateau is free the first weekend of every month. Here are some of my pics from our rainy yet still beautiful visit to the home of many French kings and queens:

We each grabbed one of these devices on the way in that allowed us to punch in a number code for every room we entered to hear the history of that room and other interesting facts. It helped me stay engaged throughout my time there and learn things I would have otherwise never known. In our first room we learned that Louis XIV demanded absolute perfection in his chapel that took 28 years to construct. It was a breathtaking room:
In addition, the Queen's chambre or room had to be large because giving birth was a public matter. It was a great tradition so the Queen's room was almost as large as the King's. It was unbelievable to think this was the bed that Marie Antoinette slept in:
As we took the RER train back 16 miles northeast to the Saint Michel metro stop in Paris to get back onto our metro line, we enjoyed a lovely view of the Seine out the window and relaxed with some McCafes.
