As I think many of you know, my favorite dessert in Paris is without question the Macaroon...

Big or small, light or rich, chocolate or fruity--there is a macaroon for every occasion...and a flavor: lemon, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, coffee, raspberry, pistachio (my favorite!).  Although I didn't know the difference between a meringue and a macaroon before coming to Paris, I have found that it is the dessert equivalent to gelato when in Italy and it must be consumed AT LEAST once a day.

Macaroons will be the perfect dessert next week for my roommate Alexis (who arrives tomorrow) because she has a gluten allergy and macaroons are made without flour.

We will use them as fuel tomorrow night for the Paris half marathon which is early Sunday morning.  After a few weeks of training, I am really ready for this race, it's going to be wonderful to run without stopping for so long in the center of Paris!
